House at Anderson Road

Located within the dense neighborhoods of Dehiwala, this abode is a contemporary tropical home deprived of privacy from its context. Therefore, its landscape was designed in response to the concern.

The landscape was conceived in 3 layers, the first layer is composed of bushes and shrubs which connect to the spaces indoors. The intermediate layer is composed of medium-sized plants aligned against a rubble wall, this adds color and texture to the surrounding. The topmost layer is larger trees whose canopy envelopes the house which provides the home a sense of privacy.

The plot also features a central court with a swimming pool, a rear garden, and rooftop garden which aids to aim for seclusion and serenity.

This project can be portrayed as a retreat within the busy city.
